Every ten years with the release of the data from the decennial census, MPOs are required to review and adjust, if necessary, their Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA) Boundaries.  This boundary, ostensibly, is to accommodate anticipated urban growth over the next 20 years within the MPO area.  At a minimum, the MPA must include the census identified urban area.

The results of the 2020 census show that the Grants Pass urbanized area has been extended to include the Pleasant Valley area.  To simplify matters, the boundary extension will include the area west of I-5 that has now been identified as “urban” (see link to map below).

The Middle Rogue Metropolitan Planning Organization (MRMPO) will hold a public hearing at its regularly scheduled Policy Committee meeting on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 2:30 PM to discuss and take action on the recommendations from the Technical Advisory Committee and Citizens Advisory Committee.

The MRMPO is considering the following amendments to the 2024-2027 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP):
1. Cancel Project in TIP: SW Oregon safety program funding reserve (FFY25-27) (KN 23305)
2. Cancel Project in TIP: SW Oregon HB2017 safety program funding reserve (FFY25-27) (KN 23413)
3. Amend Project in TIP: Southwest Oregon Rural Intersection Safety Improvements (KN 23053)
4. Add Project to TIP: Grants Pass US199 and Redwood Avenue Plan (KN 23567)
The TIP fulfills federal requirements (23 CFR Part 450) for a long-range multimodal transportation plan and a short-range project programming document. The planning area includes portions of Josephine & Jackson Counties and the cities of Gold Hill, Grants Pass, and Rogue River.
